Dio's commentary:

This theme is basically my second place trophy to a track that didn't make the cut in 2013: "Terror on Saint Scratch's Eve", as when the concept of 2015's album came along (a remix album), I said I wanted "Saint Scratch's Eve" but longer, like a boss battle. And so thats how this version came to be. Its not too much different than the base attract mode song (nor is it that much longer XD;;;), but that was the point. I just wanted the song again with some added bonuses and I got it, perfectly. This was also about the point where we started chipping at the soundtrack of the game, where Decon thought it was totally a different kind of game (in my original concept, it was a retro RPG like Capcom's "Sweet Home", but with no permadeath, and exploring a single location for the most part-the titular manor).
This album had a surprising amount of music from the members of Gonkaka, now that I think about it, and I kinda like that. That one of their tracks beat out a (requested) Piston Quints song should be a testament to how much I like it.
