Decon's commentary:

I've talked about this before, but I honestly find it extremely difficult to work in genres of music I especially love, or replicate the stylistic elements of soundtracks that are among my favourites. It's the reverence for the source material; I hold it in such high regard that what I view as sub-par efforts won't be tolerated, and even completed works within those styles will be subject to greater degrees of scrutiny. That's part of why you don't hear many big beat or rotterdam techno songs from me, and also part of why Pursuer tracks for my Barnbellow's Estate project- which draw heavy influence from the music to G Darius and the Devil May Cry games (particularly the first one)- have such long gaps between them. With that in mind, knowing that a Barnbellow's Estate character and stage had been selected for Battlemania 2, you'd expect me to have been extremely nervous about approaching that track, and in the flurry of emotions and circumstances surrounding that album's production I could well have been- I honestly don't remember. I do, however, remember actually being a little excited to tackle it, and when it finally came time to do so... the process went so comparatively smoothly it was unreal. Melodies came to me very quickly, I was confident about most if not all of the samples I worked with on the first try, and I don't recall running into any major technical issues or compositional brick walls. And the end result is so strong, so well put together- genuinely, I myself get goosebumps over the course of the breakdown/buildup that starts at 2:06, and it's eventual drop into the “thrashy” section. Genuinely fucking nailed exactly what I was going for there.
