Decon's commentary:

Gonna get my one and only criticism out of the way first; the main body of the track, following the bass guitar solo and just before the synth solo, could've done with a little... something more. I'm not sure what, but it feels just the tiniest bit empty.
Everything else though? Shit, I was on fire for this one. I had a very strong vision for how I wanted this piece to sound, drawing on Yousuke Yasui's CROSSOVER8 (specifically, its use of slap bass over a house-y beat, though I arguably went more rave-y), and I nailed it. It somehow manages to sound exactly like the British Beach Town Boardwalk But Like, Moreso vibe of the level it would accompany in such a way that you know what it's about without having to have that level described to you. Hadn't done bass guitar riff slicing before this- mostly just stuck to doing it with distorted leads- but still managed to smash that and write some good lines. And that synth solo, man; my solos and freeform noodling can sometimes be a little hit or miss, something I only ever notice after the fact, but this one? This one's All Hit, No Miss, if I can blow my own horn. The samples used for it weren't stock “8-bit” chiptune samples, by the by- they did actually come from some vintage synthesizers, but surprise surprise, I can't recall which ones and I don't have access to those samples anymore. Whoopsie.
