Dio's commentary:

Now onto the much anticipated and development hell project, Battlemania 2: King of Blues. The subtitles of the 2 BM games actually are jazz music references, with "An Evil Supreme" being both a nod to "A Love Supreme" by John Coltrane and a cheeky reference to Mystery Science Theater 3000 (it was mentioned as a parody of the above song, but sung by one of the "evil" Mads). The subtitle for this soundtrack was named for another jazz musician, but the reference now all but escapes me. Miles Davis? I couldn't tell you.
That said, as a sequel, the story takes place in a much farther removed time, with a new cast of characters from both our original works, and this time one of my oldest original characters was chosen for the project, and for which this track is for. The character Rya Li St. John comes from a comedy fantasy series, and is lighter in tone, in contrast to others that were chosen, such as Hermes from Brutal God Project, or Crown Prince Renzo from my newest series Threads of Yuugen, and as such, her theme and level design is much more lighthearted and bouncy. Taking its inspiration from Japanese cultural festivals and matsuri, "Ondo on the Mind" is a different flavor I've come to expect from Gonkaka, and it didn't disappoint. The rest of the music in the soundtrack, outside of my next choice, are more somber and darker pieces, so this one really stands out. It's so upbeat and poppy that it scarcely seems to match the rest, and yet it dovetails perfectly as a spring, festival atmosphere. I was impressed with its style and tone, and hope that it gives the same feelings to everyone that listens to it.
