The second choice was one that was tricky, as the inspirations for it had an unusual time signature, 3/4 specifically. I adore unusual time signatures, and 3/4 is a favorite. I know it's a nightmare for Decon in his workflow, but he does it so well that I couldn't help but feel chuffed at the final product. The structure and drop to the more exciting melody portion was inspired by a remix of the village theme from the Felyne spin-off game for Monster Hunter. While it feels more restrained than its inspired track, this was for the better in terms of the level and the character of Renzo.
The level was to be fairly linear in the beginning with more pastels and a rainy atmosphere as it pertains to a rainy path to a water themed temple in the original story, and as such the sound is more relaxed and bright, and when the path really opens up, the drop to the rest of the song at about 2:20 really exhibits how it expands. I think he really had a great idea of where to go with my limited examples, which goes to show you the higher skill in this album compared to the predecessor BM project. it felt it was only right to have perhaps the 2 characters from my pick be an alpha-omega, cradle to grave, and that their themes are the brighter lights shining through a seeming dark place.
It was tough choosing this over Sean O'Gann's theme "Those Who Lay in Wait and Watch in Secret", which was the Misfit Demon Manor character chosen for the project. But in my heart, I think Renzo's level theme deserves the space more.
