Oh what's that? Another Piston Quints song? Of course! But this one was the song that really sealed the deal on what I love about this alias. Many songs that I picked usually were for some of my projects, including but not limited to Misfit Demon Manor, E.Q. , and Boulevard of Distance, or simply Distance. As a project that grew out of RPGs that have a modern day setting with fantastic elements like magic, Distance has a long stewing winter special project I've been chipping at for years.
This song has one of the most cinematic qualities of all the songs in any album so far, with such a clear scene in my head of one of the principal characters of the Distance story waking amid a snowstorm in a giant nest, coming face to face with a giant mythical bird he'd been seeking for half his life. This quiet scene of reverence and awe between man and beast was so strong in my head I wrote a considerable amount of the scenes around this song and it gave me a better idea of what the sound of the series, particularly the winter special. Without a doubt, it is one of my most cherished songs not only by Piston Quints, but for all the holiday albums.
