IN-CHARACTER TRACK COMMENTARY FROM GONKAKA:

Fumie Saso: One of the positives across the entire album is that our go-to software has a lot of vocal samples built into it, but it was especially useful here; I had really begun to notice how we had all really gone all-in on using vocals or vocal samples to communicate ideas in place of our own voices, and wanted to lean into it with a full verse of sorts. The thing I was trying to communicate was the concept of a Nakama; that very specific kind of reliability, respect, and closeness you make with friends that are more like family then your blood relatives, and that is often forged in the fires of adversity. It's the bond that all the Kingslayers share with their original clans and teams, and how it spurred them on to set aside their differences and fight together for justice- that was what I wanted to communicate. Doing so using the limited set of samples I had to work with was very difficult, though.

Denji Koshiro: I noticed you used a sample similar to one I'd used for No Last Step; “it's just not right that you're not here”, albeit from a different vocal bank. Was that deliberate?

Fumie Saso: Mmhmm, yes it was. The contrast between how the playable characters managed their grief vs. how Kain managed theirs was very stark- after all, Kain did everything he did from similar, albeit explicitly romantic feelings, but he fell to darker temptations and inflicted that hurt on so many others in the process.

DECON'S TRACK COMMENTARY:

C.Y.F.M.L?'s primary source of inspiration is Manabu Namiki's Superb from DoDonPachi DAI-FUKKATSU BLACK LABEL (though there's a touch of Op by Yuji Kanda in there as well).
