Visor Jack is also a favorite of mine in the 103 artist list, which is probably surprising that this is one of the few that I chose for my shortlist. But I love the energy of VJ songs, and this one is quite possibly one of the best reasons why. This song just, as the kids say these days, SLAPS. The voice clips, the piano, all the drops; it all comes together in one crispy, tasty package. Maybe its the appeal of masked musicians, maybe it's the music skill, I couldn't tell you, but as an opening track, it really sets a great tone.
And yes, perhaps the short length of the album contributes to all of the tracks being absolutely quality of each track, but I also would say it's a big marker of the growth that these albums have made through the years. It's like a portfolio for the final; each track and artist chosen exhibits the strength and growth from Decon that I believe he's been cultivating since the beginning. As a 5th year anniversary, with the theme of no external samples and everything done in situ within Music 2000 as well as taking sketches and fleshing them out whole, this track as the first track of this album shines bright as a good kick off.
