If ever there was an argument in favour of my inability to keep song masters from a practicality standpoint, this is it.

A Vicious Battle Between Friends is a song I put together for one of my many game ideas- a platformer/beat 'em up called Beyond Human, centred around a teenager with psychic powers named Tony Harper battling a shitload of robots- and was intended to serve as a boss battle theme. Specifically, it was intended for use in the final battle with an enemy that'd hound you throughout that game, after it had been revealed that said enemy was ACTUALLY your best friend (who'd disappeared months ago), except he's a robot now. It would've been very dramatic and emotional.

Thing is, though, I could never quite settle on what samples and instrumentation I wanted to use for the song. To the point that I'm legitimately unsure if there weren't another couple of versions of the song in addition to these five.

Musically speaking, the pieces definitely show their age; the later versions were among the first pieces I recorded using a direct line in method, so they're about eight years old at the bare minimum (and it definitely shows when compared to my recent work). With that said, I was incredibly proud of the song when I made it- the fact I wanted to refine it and kept working on it over and over is proof positive of that- and it's one of the earliest examples of my really beginning to grasp the strength of a good leading melody. Certainly it could've stood to be a bit more varied in places, but what's there is relatively catchy. It's definitely a song I'd like to revisit, just one more time...
