Track 15: Blank Silence (Creature Battle) [from "Juan Handyman's "The Terror": The Official Computer Game"]
Artist: Gonkaka
Originally Composed: 2013

No points for guessing this one of the aforementioned “two songs” to come out of the Terror project. The previous one was supposed to be a walkaround theme, but this one is a through-and-through battle theme; I maybe could’ve executed it a little better, but I still kinda like that “repeated piano note” rhythm going on in the start of the track, the moody pad and melody is still kinda atmospheric, and the sudden shift into a manic electronica beat, though maybe a bit jarring, still sounds cool to me. This was actually the first of the two songs to be composed for the project, and kinda set the precedent for it; I had created the sample set for the project, but still wasn’t entirely sure how I wanted to take it, and resolved to just play around with ideas and see what came out. If I remember correctly, the song was also supposed to be the battle song of the story’s prologue, just as the aliens were invading, which is also partially why the song sounds the way it does. I admit the use of that “the sheer terror is indescribable” sample before the shift was very, very on the nose.
