Track 7: Trouble From The Darkside
Artist: Nasty Master
Originally Composed: 2013

If I remember correctly, this was actually the third or fourth attempt at doing this one song, as program crashes robbed me of prior attempts entirely. That probably should've clued me in to maybe give this song idea more time to gestate, but ever the stubborn mule, I plowed ahead and got my finished result- technically two finished results, but that's for another time. I completely understand the vibe I was going for with the song, and certain elements of it roll together nicely; the intro is pretty cool, the verses for the most part sound nice and tight, there's definitely something to the bassline during the breakdowns, and as an overall package, I completely understand what I was attempting to achieve; I do feel, however, that the song wasn't meant to fit this "chorus-verse-chorus" structure I was shooting for, the custom beat just doesn't sound as great as the sampled breakbeat does, and I am really not feeling that solo at all, although at least part of the problem with it is that, mechanically speaking, solos in Music 2000 have to follow the same building blocks as melodies or basslines do, and are thus constrained by the time signature; if I could've gotten away with some speedy twiddling that might've helped, but the slower time sig. didn't quite allow for it. I briefly considered this potentially being the theme song for my Fielding Investigation Unit project, but discarded it when I grew unsatisfied with the song overall.

Trivia Note: The alias chosen for this release was actually a fusion of my hip hop alias, Master Controller Featuring, and an alias intended for Horrorcore/Trip Hop stuff, Video Nasty, that I wound up discarding before ever really using. The fusion of the two was primarily because I felt like the song pulled elements from what I was attempting to achieve with both aliases, but didn't sit squarely in either camp.
