Track 1: Terror Ism (Attract Mode) [from "Clash of the Cryptids Early Works"]
Artist: Shinji Namiki
Originally Composed: 2012

Ahh, the very first song I ever did using DETUNE's iYM2151 iPad app. The app is essentially a software recreation of the famous YM2151, a sound chip produced by Yamaha that was very, very wildly used in arcade machines during the late 80s and early 90s, both from smaller and more off-the-radar companies such as Jaleco, all the way up to heavy hitters like Namco. In a world where the chiptune standard is still 8bit, it makes a refreshing change of pace, and me being me, I was bound to snap the damn thing up. I don't believe I ever had a specific project in mind for the song when working on it, as primarily it was done mostly as a means of testing out the program, but I did very briefly toy around the idea of it being a title sting for a podcast idea me and a friend were considering (and still are considering). Overall the composition is pretty typical for my stuff, but there is one absolutely enormous regret I have with it; that I got rid of the master file before I recorded that snare sample for future use, because to this day, I haven't been able to make a snare using the software that sounds quite as good as that punchy metallic crunch, and I can no longer remember how I even made it in the first place.
