Track 4: Saint Of Alban Project [2011 Meets 2013 Edit]
Artist: Vapor Is Dead!
Originally Composed: 2011, but not completed until 2013

Yeah. Somehow I accidentally Vaporwave’d without really realising it. And without it really being Vaporwave. What would you even call this? Vaporchill? Hopwave? Post City Nightwave Beatcore? Whatever. This was supposed to be part of a small compilation album called Night City Project, with each song inspired, in some way, by the mood and emotion of a city at night. I got maybe two demos and this one finished piece out of it before the idea faded away, which is a shame. Overall I wouldn’t say the song is awful; I’m still quite fond of the bassline, the silky smooth softsynth on the chorus sections still sounds really damn good. Arguably the best aspect of the whole thing, for me, is the ambient SFX collage I put together for the intro and outro; the sampled SFX from Rollercoaster Tycoon don’t entirely fit, but overlaid with some pretty-decent custom footstep foley and “city air” ambience it still sounds pretty nifty. I find the beat is a little to repetitive, though; it never really changes enough, neither in sample variation or arrangement, and by the end it just kinda drags a bit.
