Track 2: Sadly Departed & Ready To Party
Artist: Arcade Child (originally composed by Tetsuya Kawauchi)
Originally Composed: 2013

Ok, first things first, gonna come out and say it; I'm still really proud of the title for this song. I've come up with a great many inane and/or ridiculous titles for songs as part of my penchant for inane and/or ridiculous song titles that are anything but generic, but this still ranks as one of my favourites. Right, ok, should probably actually talk about the track itself now; in early-ish 2013, I was made aware of an OCReMix album project proposed by one of the forum members by, if I remember right, seeing DiGi Valentine post about it somewhere. The OCReMix community as a whole always felt somewhat impenetrable to me and I honestly felt to intimidated by it to even try submitting anything to the board of judges, but there was one simple thing that motivated me to go for this project; the chance to remix The House Of The Dead, as arcade ports to the console were eligible for having their songs remixes, nobody else had yet done a remix for the game on the site, and as we all know, the original The House Of The Dead is n my Top 3 favourite games of all time, so I had to step up to the plate to rep it. The Stage 1 song, perhaps the most well known song from the game besides the legendary opening theme, wasn't actually my first choice of song to do, and the style I did the track in wasn't the first style I thought of trying, but I found myself gravitating towards both the song and style naturally as I tried out different things and, though there are definitely things I could've done better (some of the synths are a bit weak, the arrangement just isn't quite punchy enough in the first half- the bit actually based on the original song directly), the sleazy, very 90s synth funk feel really works with the vibe of the original track, overall I'm proud of my attempts at both remaining faithful to the original in the first half, and expanding it with a new section that takes the vibe and runs with it (and adds in, like, a quintuple load of solos/improv bits, if we count the two drum solos, the mad scratch section, the bass solo, and the organ jam at the end).

Trivia Note: There is a small section of the organ solo at the end that is very, very loosely based on the song Opposites Attract by Paula Abdul. For no other reason then shits and giggles.
