Track 17: Revenge of Doctor Z (Match 8) [from "Roads of Pain"]
Artist: Denji Koshiro
Originally Composed: 2011

Following on with the theme of First Time attempts, this is the very first time I ever tried my hand at a chiptune track. As far as first times go, it could be better, but it could be much worse. It being a "fakebit" chiptune number (fusing voices from different sound chips, as well as using edited versions of in-program samples) wasn't an intended stylistic choice, and was solely the realm of me only having a limited library of chiptune samples on hand at the time; not bad in of itself, but
the song definitely sounds a bit flat overall, lacking any real punch or grit. This is also one of the more on-the-nose Gonkaka works, entirely down to that piano melody being straight up taken from the Streets Of Rage final boss music (www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzJu0v3mUKY), only turned into singular notes instead of being chords. I do quite like the two different bass patterns going on in the track, and even if they sound a bit listless, I certainly tried to get all the mileage out of the sampled sounds I could, so hey, A+ for effort, past me.
