Track 14: Napalm Protocol (Ruined Uptown) [from "Juan Handyman's "The Terror": The Official Computer Game"]
Artist: Gonkaka
Originally Composed: 2013

Another short lived fakebit Gonkaka project, the "Juan Handyman's "The Terror": The Official Game" was deliberately trying to emulate a sound comparable to those coming out of the Amiga 500 personal computer, which was known for having some incredibly high tech, sample based chiptunes, especially for the time. The “fake game” itself was supposed to be a horror RPG about invading aliens of a body horror persuasion that manage to completely overtake an entire city, leaving just a few survivors to fight them off It was actually a lot shorter lived then even the House Of Dead Leaves project above, as only two songs ever came out of it. I’d still like to revisit the idea sometime, because I really liked some of the sounds I managed to get out of M2K in these tracks- and they’re all generated in-program, with just a bit of editing and tweaking here and there- and I actually quite like the songs themselves, even today; they capture that gritty, rough, B-Movie-meets-Electronica feel a horror game for the Amiga might have. This song in particular has a really nice bassline going on in it, with both the rhythm and the sample itself sounding very early 90s PC game-esque.

Trivia Note: The Gonkaka reference this time around is, of course, a send up of John Carpenter’s “The Thing”, right down to the project plans itself stating that the invading aliens were to be “very gross body horror monsters”.
