Track 7: DiGital World (Instrumental)
Artist: Master Controller Featuring
Originally Composed: 2011

A couple of years back, nerdy rabbit rapper and youtube sensation DiGi Valentine gradually worked on an album with various producers named The Year Of The Rabbit, and during the process he contacted me and asked me to help contribute a beat for the project. I, being both a young musician hungry for exposure and a big fan of DiGi’s work, jumped at the chance to work with him. I remember him asking me to produce something that emphasised hype above all else, and that sounded a little bit like Funky Radio by B. B. Rights (www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIu3MmaMGuE), and... this is what I came up with. At the time I’m pretty sure I thought it was solid gold, but looking back with wiser eyes, it’s definitely a bit rough around the edges; the beats just don’t quite have the raw OOMPH I was aiming for, for example- particularly the ones in the verses. I do still like some of the more eclectic touches though; the synth bass that features most prominently in the verses has a good groove to it, and is atypical enough in hip hop to stand out (it’s more like a techno bass, really), but it still works perfectly with a rap over it. I implore you to check out the version with DiGi’s vocals (and an additional synth solo by Level 99 that spices things up a bit), as they easily make the track something really special. I admit to still getting chills when I hear the namedrop in the second verse like the silly fanboy I am.

Trivia Note: Though attributed to my hip hop alias now, the beat was originally produced back when I solely worked under the name J-MACHine; hence why that’s the alias namedropped in the version with lyrics.
