This song exists primarily for two reasons, neither of them especially romantic; first, I very recently decided that it might be a good idea, when compiling all these releases of old tunes, to do at least one new track to balance out the older material with something a bit fresher; the second is that I've been battling a bad bout of music block as of this writing, and I needed to work on something slightly different from what I was doing to help break it. I'm glad I jumped at the opportunity to do so, however, because the result is pretty darned good. Originally, the song started out as a pretty cut and dry "bad future" remix of the Heaven Highway track (hence it's reworking of a few elements of that track, such as one of the melody sequences, the bassline, and that reused high hat pattern sample), but it very quickly evolved into something else, and is all the better for it; I readily admit the Sonic CD soundtrack would have been made even better if the Metal Sonic showdown had it's own unique backing track, and this song is essentially a realisation of that concept- and one I intend to revisit. The "big dramatic organ vibe meets 90s techno" was partially decided on as a result of the setting, and partially as a result of the scenario it was crafted for, both of which are directly depicted on the cover.

The track features a synth stab sample from Don’t Go by Awesome 3.
