This is a very bittersweet song for me; heavily inspired by Ken Ishii’s song Awakening (www.youtube.com/watch?v=jY0LDHgbh3o), it was initially envisioned to be something of a crossover Dance/Rap track with lyrics- and there’s no way to sugar coat this- from the perspective of someone considering suicide, and ultimately deciding not to go through with it because they’ve got too much keeping them anchored and stable. I was intending to bring on nightsintodreams.com alumni and all around lovely geezer DiGi Valentine (more on him in a little bit) to do the rap, an equally lovely old friend of mine who you might know under the alias spinningcannon to do a sung chorus, and I was even planning on getting in touch with a suicide prevention charity to get about sorting a sponsor out. It never really panned out in the end- I lost steam with the project, DiGi and spinningcannon both had real life commitments,which is understandable. Arguably, for the best; I really do not feel the final version of the song is as good as it could’ve been, with it’s lacklustre synths and some weak moments in the arrangement- I also feel like a Dance track might not have been the best building blocks for a song with such serious subject matter. Ultimately, though, despite my mixed feelings over the song, this was the very first track I did under the Decon Theed name, making it one of the first times I really embraced the nickname I’d picked up from the tumblr community, and ultimately helping to lead towards the further diversification of my base of aliases, as well as giving a name to put my “mixed genre over dance beats” compositions to.
