103RO0001
I am a very, very big MOTHER fan, and have been since my teenaged years. In fact, I'd go out on a limb and say it's rivaled only by stuff like Sonic and The House Of The Dead in terms of how much I adore the series, and the imprint it's left on me personally and creatively cannot be understated. It should be no surprise, then, that I got fairly involved with the fan community to varying degrees, from casually shooting the breeze over on the
Starmen.net forums to doing exactly what you'd expect me to do; fan music. What you might find a little more surprising, however, is just how MUCH fan music I did for the series.
This isn't even all of it, if that puts it into perspective.
There's a tremendous amount of history in this album; plenty of good memories, a couple of bad ones, ideas that died a quiet death and ideas that continued to evolve and change, and a slow, gradual evolution from being a pretty shite musician to a slightly less shite musician. And make no mistake, some of the material on here is from the earliest annals of my music career; I would hesitate to call a majority of this compilation anything other then "deeply flawed", some could even be called outright terrible. But, as with everything I've done, it's all been absolutely vital to my evolution as a musician, and on that merit alone I couldn't in good conscience leave it to rot on a hard drive somewhere. Almost all the songs on this collection were, however, edited in some capacity; tracks were shorted by trimming the fat, bits were moved around to help the tracks flow as best as they could, titles and designations were changed, little things like that. The edit job isn't perfect, but for better or worse, I consider these the "definitive" versions of these songs.
This album compiles together all the work I did for my own personal fan projects (a disasterously bad MOTHER 4 prompt involving grimdark cloning woes, and a less-disasterous fan project that ultimately became an original entity under the name From Dreams To Nightmares, that I'm still working on today), work I did for a few of the fan projects I got involved in over at
Starmen.net (my good friend Rec's MOTHER 3.5/Old Mother Earth project, a project under the name EarthBound 3, and a briefly discussed MOTHER-based fighting game idea that so far as I know never developed further), and odd miscellaneous bits like a couple of bits I did for the big MOTHER 4 project in it's earlier stages, and the odd remix or remake of a track here and there.
released October 11, 2015
a majority of the music was composed by Decon Theed; the exceptions are tracks originally composed by Shogo Sakai (Tracks 16, 60, 67, and 97), Hirokazu Tanaka (Track 40), Isaiah Kim (Tracks 6, 12, 35, 36, 52, 67, and 81), Gabriel Körber (Track 2), and PastorOfMuppets (Track 94) all of which were arranged by Decon Theed, or had elements of their songs repurposed and expanded upon
various tracks include both the MOTHER 3 Pigmask leitmotif, and a secondary Pigmask leitmotif written for MOTHER 3.5/Old Mother Earth; the former was originally composed by Shogo Sakai, the latter by Gabriel Körber
all of the music on this collection was produced between 2008 and 2014
