about

103RE0007

Eight months between new material is the longest break I've taken... probably ever, honestly. You can thank clinical depression for that one, folks! However, even that wasn't going to get in the way of me putting together, at the very least, one brand new track to put out on August 1st. It is the fifth anniversary of 103 Records today, after all.

Followers of the composing process for 12 Tracks 2016 will know that, despite my love for the genre, I find Big Beat music really hard to write. Hell, it's probably because I love it so much I find it difficult to create anything that meets my standards. So going headfirst into a MIGHTY-MACHine new tune for the first time in over half a year was... a bold move, to say the least. It paid off, though; I am extremely proud of the end result.

Originally I was going to release the song solo, but it came to my attention recently that a friend of a friend had access to a song I thought I'd lost completely years ago; I asked him to point me in the right direction, so I could include it as a b-side for this collection. It's not quite a lost masterpiece, but it is an amusing piece of my musical history. Also included on this little collection are a slightly more striped down non-edit of the first track (for those that appreciate a more streamlined, not-kooky-sampling-overloaded experience), and a demo of a piece I began working on when I was still in a bad place and need to workshop a bit more before completing.

So;something for the present, a little piece of history, and a hint of things to come. I think that's a fitting 5th year anniversary celebration, no?

Here's to many more years of absolute bangers; god knows in spite of everything I've been through (and am still going through), I've no intention of giving up my passion for music anytime soon.
